Computer worm (worm)
Malicious software that spreads on its own from one machine to another, without anyone having to click.
A worm copies itself and spreads on its own across a network, by exploiting flaws or poorly protected shares. This automatic propagation lets it infect a large number of machines very quickly and serve as a way in for other attacks, such as ransomware. It differs from a virus, which needs a file and an action to spread.
