3-2-1 backup
A simple rule for reliable backups: 3 copies, on 2 different media, 1 of which is kept elsewhere.
The 3-2-1 rule says to keep at least three copies of your data, on two types of media, one of which is off-site. That way, a single incident (failure, theft, fire, attack) cannot destroy everything at once. Against ransomware, it is essential that one copy be isolated or offline, and that restoration be tested.
