Firewall
A filter that controls network traffic and allows or blocks connections according to rules.
A firewall, hardware or software, decides which network communications are allowed and which are blocked. It is a basic protection that separates different trust zones, for example the Internet and the internal network. It remains essential, but is not enough on its own: it is part of a layered security setup.
